Larenz Tate has joined the cast of Starz’s hit drama series “Power” for its upcoming 4th season.

The series continues to build out its cast, as Tate joins recent additions including Charlie Murphy and “Hamilton” star Brandon Victor Dixon, also joining the series’ 4th season which returns this summer.

Tate will play a city councilman from Jamaica Queens who crosses paths with the now imprisoned James “Ghost” St. Patrick (star Omari Hardwick). How exactly Tate will be used isn’t public information at this time. You’ll have to tune to find out.

Season 4 will open with “Ghost” behind bars, following his highly publicized arrest by his ex-girlfriend, Assistant U.S. Attorney Angela Valdes, for the murder of FBI Agent Greg Knox – a crime he did not commit. Ghost can’t outrun his past choices and mounting enemies this season, which threaten his freedom and his family’s safety at every turn. His fight for redemption brings him face-to-face with the Feds, the media, new allies, and old foes. But the biggest obstacle for Ghost remains himself and his internal struggle between the man he wants to be and the one he really is.

From Executive Producer Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson and show creator Courtney A. Kemp, the “Power” cast is led by Hardwick as drug kingpin and nightclub impresario James “Ghost” St. Patrick; Joseph Sikora, as his brother in arms in the drug business, Tommy Egan; Naturi Naughton plays James’ fierce, loyal wife Tasha St. Patrick; and Lela Loren as his first love Assistant U.S. Attorney, Angela Valdes.

“Power” season three was the most-watched Starz original series ever, with a record of 7.1M viewers across all platforms and counting. The #1 original Starz drama also ranked #1 among all weekend cable programs for African American viewers during the 3rd season which ended last summer. Season 4 returns this summer.

  1. Very happy for Larenz. He keeps finding his way on shows that don’t make it past one season, so I hope this appearance works in his favor.

  2. I’m so very, very happy for Larenz Tate!!! He’s an amazing and extremely talented actor. I’ve been a devoted fan of his from the beginning of his career. YES! Since he began as a child. I knew right away he was talented and would be a great actor for years to come. I became even more extremely impressed and intrigued with him when I heard a radio interview he did one morning while I was getting ready for work. It was before the movie “Love Jones” was about to hit the theatres. The things he said and the way he answered the questions had such an impact on me I had to stop and sit down to listen. He was so intelligent. Out of all the actors I have heard answer questions during an interview, Up til then, I never heard anyone handle themselves an answer questions as well as he did. His way of speaking, the class he possessed, the humbleness and genuine down to earth feeling he gave with every answer had me mesmerized. I couldn’t finish getting ready for work until the interview was over. He had my undivided attention!! I couldn’t wait to get to work to talk about him and that interview and couldn’t wait to see “Love Jones”. I loved it and loved him in it. It’s one of my favorites. I couldn’t wait to buy it when it came out. I was talking about it and telling everyone I could about how great it was, telling them they had to see it if they hadn’t seen it already. I went to see a play my best friend was acting in and the male actor in the play was outstanding. Afterwards we talked, I told him how impressed I was with his performance and what a great job he did, I asked if he had seen “Love Jones”. He hadn’hadn’t, I stress enough how great it was and how important I thought it was for him to see it. We got together one day and watched it together. He understood why I loved the movie. He actually was impressed with everyone’s character and performance in the movie. By that time I had probably seen it several times but it was so good I had no problem watching it again. To date, I’ve watched it so many times I loss count. Not to mention that I have never missed a movie Larenz Tate has been in and he’s been exceptionally great in all of them. I was shocked to learn that he was only 17 when he played O Dog in “Menace to Society”. He’s a great actor with exceptional talent and very intelligent. I’m a fan forever!!!

  3. Very good show! I loved it from day 1. I guess I can relate to Ghost.

  4. I hope Ghost now realizes that Angie is bad for him.Cant wait to see the look on her face when Ghost is proven innocent for the murder of the FBI detective
