Did you know the voice behind some of the most popular video game characters was a Black man?

In an interview for The Root, viewers and readers are giving an introduction to Dave Fennoy. He is perhaps best known as the voice of The Walking Dead’s Lee Everett. Fennoy, who has also given his voice to shows such as Young Sheldon, revealed that he originally pursued a career in acting before segueing into the video game industry.

“I was pursuing a career in acting and voiceover then video games came along after I was already doing this for years,” Fennoy told The Root. “It was only after being a voice in, 70, 80, 100 video games that I realized, ‘Oh, you know what? This is a special industry.’”

Fennoy also disclosed that he has voiced over 400 video games. He voiced the character of Dick Scott in the animated series New Kids on the Block. In addition, he has also voiced the character of Bluebeard in the video game The Wolf Among Us and Gabriel the Warrior in Minecraft: Story Mode.
