Paris Jackson, the daughter of Michael Jackson, delivered a message to people who have bashed her through the years because she didn’t publicly wish a happy birthday to her late father.

Paris finally responded to the criticism as she was getting ready to sing at the Las Colonias Park Amphitheater in Colorado in honor of their father’s 65th birthday, People reported.

The 25-year-old model, who posted an Instagram Story, explained why the late icon didn’t like attention on his special day.

“So, today’s my dad’s birthday, and, back when he was alive, he used to hate anybody acknowledging his birthday, wishing him ‘happy birthday,’ celebrating it, nothing like that,” she said. “He actually didn’t want us to even know when his birthday was because he didn’t want us to, like, throw a party or anything like that.”

She continued, “That being said, social media is apparently how people express their love and affection these days, and if you don’t wish someone a ‘happy birthday’ via social media, it apparently means that you don’t love them, that you don’t care about them.”

According to Complex, Paris said people have told them to take her own life simply because she didn’t wish happy birthday to the late icon.

“There have been times where I don’t post anything for my dad’s birthday and people lose their f**king minds,” she said. “They tell me to kill myself and they’re basically measuring my love for my own father based off of what I post on Instagram. So, I made you guys a little video and I hope you enjoy it.”

In the caption of the post, she wrote, “Please don’t use a man you have never met as an excuse to abuse, manipulate, and harass his daughter (who you also have never met).”

Paris also posted another video of herself performing alongside popular bands, Incubus and Bad Flower, in Colorado.

“He would have been 65 years old today, and he put 50 years of blood, sweat and tears and love and passion into doing what he did, so that I can stand up here on stage in front of you and scream into a microphone,” she told the audience.

In a third Instagram video, Paris sat in a dressing room and told their dad’s fans to honor his birthday by supporting causes such as climate change, and environmental and animal rights activism.

“These were things that he loved and was very interested in, and I can’t speak for him, because I’m a different person and I don’t know, but I’m sure he would have loved that,” she said.

Paris was only 11 years old when her father died in 2009.
