The Creative Arts Emmy Awards took place this weekend and per Shadow & Act’s stated interest, notable award winners were Ava DuVernay’s 13th for Documentary of Nonfiction Special, Writing for Nonfiction Programs, Outstanding Motion Design and Outstanding Original Music and Lyrics (for “Letter to the Free” by Common) RuPaul’s Drag Race won a number of awards, including Host for a Reality/Reality-Competition Program. Ezra Edleman also won for Directing for a Nonfiction Program for O.J. Made in America. The program also won Picture Editing for a Nonfiction Program.

Fun fact: Common’s win for 13th means he’s only one award away from an EGOT (Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, Tony).
