'2 Days In New York' Gets An Official Trailer, Poster, Release Dates (Chris Rock, July Delpy Star)

Magnolia Pictures acquired release rights to Julie Delpy's dramedy sequel to the absolutely hilarious 2 Days In Paris, titled 2 Days In New York, which she stars in along with Chris Rock – a film we've covered quite a bit, so I'll just skip to the new stuff… the official trailer and poster have surfaced, and the film now has a release date… or rather dates.

I saw the film earlier this year and enjoyed it, calling it familiar (as in, it's very much like the first one in terms of its style and content), but still very much engaging. It's also brief, which I think is wise for a film of this nature. But I had a good time. I'd watch it again.

If you loved the first film, you'll definitely dig this one as well.

And I should say that Chris Rock definitely holds his own; I think he excels in this kind of seemingly unscripted (although it was mostly scripted) organically-created kind of setting, where he can almost essentially just be as close to a version of his real self as possible.

True to Magnolia's strategy, the film will be released first on VOD (iTunes exclusively) on July 6th, before heading to theaters on August 10th.

The official synopsis reads:

Marion and Mingus live cozily–perhaps too cozily–with their cat and two young children from previous relationships. However, when Marion's jolly father (played by director Delpy's real-life dad), her oversexed sister, and her sister's outrageous boyfriend unceremoniously descend upon them for a visit, it initiates two unforgettable days that will test Marion and Mingus's relationship. With their unwitting racism and sexual frankness, the French triumvirate hilariously has no boundaries or filters… and no person is left unscathed in its wake.

Malinda Williams and Talen Riley co-star.
