After an incredibly successful initial run on the network a couple of months ago, drawing over 50 million viewers, exclusive streaming rights to HISTORY"s "Roots" were acquired by Hulu. The SVOD (Subscription Video on Demand) service has premiered the entire 4-part remade/reimagined series today, September 15, 2016, so those who missed its original run (whether because you didn't have cable, or some other reason), now is the time to check it out - assuming you're a Hulu subscriber. Although even if you aren't, you can sign up for a 1-week free trial, and binge-watch all 4 episodes of "Roots" and cancel afterward, before you're charged - should you want to do so.
Based on Alex Haley's 1976 novel 'Roots: The Saga of an American Family,' the A&E Networks 8-hour miniseries recounts the journey of a family through the age of American slavery. It's also a remake of a classic 1977 miniseries of the same name.
“We’re so proud to welcome such a culturally important and highly-rated series as 'Roots' to Hulu,” said Craig Erwich, SVP, Head of Content, Hulu.
The "Roots" remake is also currently out on Blu-Ray and DVD, so you have that option as well. Order your copy on Amazon here.
