The *grind* as they say, continues for Nelson George, who is moving forward on production of his next film, while the last one (Finding The Funk) makes it film festival circuit debut.

This time around, Mr George will focus his lens on Misty Copeland – the first black woman in two decades to be a soloist at the American Ballet Theatre, who, just 8 months after suffering a nearly career-ending injury, recently starred in the New York Met’s production of the swashbuckling adventure, Le Corsaire

Among her many accolades, Copeland has also positioned herself as an advocate for opening up ballet to youth of color, and, we could say, is a representation of the future of ballet in America: inclusive and elastic.

George has launched a 30-day Kickstarter campaign to raise $40,000 to be used in production of the film.

This is a project I’d definitely get behind!
