UPDATE: Tessa Thompson has now been moved into a hosting role with Shahidi. Xosha Roquemore has now joined the cast and there will be an appearance by original series star, Dawnn Lewis.

Previously reported: The last Zoom Where It Happens event will be a live reading of A Different World. The live event will happen Tuesday, Oct. 27 at 9 p.m. ET.

The production will be directed by longtime A Different World director Debbie Allen and produced by Stephanie Allain. The event will also be hosted and narrated by Yara Shahidi.

The cast will include Oswin Benjamin as Dwayne Wayne, Kelly McCreary as Whitley, Storm Reid as Jaleesa and Freddie, Tessa Thompson as Kinu and Lil Yachty as Ron.

Sanaa Lathan promoted the event on my Instagram, calling the cast an “incredibly dope group” of upcoming stars.

Like all of the past Zoom Where It Happens events, Tuesday’s event will focus on voter empowerment by being in partnership with Zoom and promoting women’s equality organization Supermajority. Supermajority focuses on connecting women to each other and empowering women to take up civil action in their communities and at the voting booth.

You can register for the event at the Zoom Where It Happens website.
