Fox’s “Star” has a new showrunner in Karin Gist, who becomes the Lee Daniels-created musical drama series’ third showrunner, even though it’s still in its very first season. Obvious guy asks, “What gives?”
Gist replaces Chuck Pratt, who stepped down just last month; Pratt himself replaced Charles Murray who was the original showrunner who exited the series last fall citing creative differences with Dailens and “Star” co-creator Tom Donaghy.
Inking a two-year overall deal with 20th Century Fox Television (producers of “Star”), Gist will take over showrunning duties for the upcoming second season of the series. In addition, under the deal, Gist will also develop new projects for the TV studio.
Repped by ICM and 3 Arts, Gist’s list of credits include serving as producer/executive producer/writer on TV series including “Grey’s Anatomy,” “Revenge,” “House of Lies,” “Undercovers,” “One “Tree Hill,” and “Girlfriends.”
Congrats on the position, which appears to be her first as a showrunner.
