ABC Cancels John Ridley's Critically-Acclaimed 'American Crime' After 3 Seasons

AMERICAN CRIME Season 3 – Regina King

In addition to last night’s report that ABC is planning to announce the end of “Scandal” after season 7, the network has officially canceled John Ridley’s critically drama series “American Crime” after 3 seasons.

A critical darling and award-winning series, its ratings unfortunately never could match the acclaim, so maybe it shouldn’t be a surprise.

Season 3, which just ended, tackled the very timely, hot-button issues of workers’ rights, reproductive rights, human trafficking, and immigration.

Regina King, who co-starred in all 3 seasons, won 2 Primetime Emmys for her work (Best Supporting Actress both times).

“American Crime” is created and executive produced by John Ridley. Michael J. McDonald also serves as executive producer. “American Crime” is produced by ABC Studios.
