Actress Esther Scott has died at the age of 66.

Her family told TMZ that she suffered a heart attack last week. She was found unconscious and taken to a hospital, where she was hospitalized for several days before passing.

Scott’s sister, Shaun, told TMZ: “She loved what she did. She would get stopped on the street often and people would recognize her — but they didn’t know her name. Hopefully now people will remember her name, her work and the contributions she gave to the entertainment industry.”

Scott has appeared in countless films and television series, primarily as a character actress (playing a grandmother or aunt). She is perhaps best known for her role in Boyz n the Hood.

The long list of films and shows she appeared in includes: Encino Man, The Craft, Austin Powers in Goldmember, You Got Served, Dreamgirls, Sister, Sister, Transformers and Hart of Dixie.
