The first-look images and trailer from Amazon Studios’ AIR show Viola Davis in character as Michael Jordan‘s mother, Deloris.

Directed by Ben Affleck and written by Alex Convery, the film focuses on Jordan’s deal with Nike, becoming one of the most consequential and history-making sports merchandise deals of all time. Deloris was one of the main people behind securing the deal because of her intense focus on advocating for her son throughout his career. According to the description:

From award-winning director Ben Affleck, AIR reveals the unbelievable game-changing partnership between a then-rookie Michael Jordan and Nike’s fledgling basketball division which revolutionized the world of sports and contemporary culture with the Air Jordan brand. This moving story follows the career-defining gamble of an unconventional team with everything on the line, the uncompromising vision of a mother who knows the worth of her son’s immense talent, and the basketball phenom who would become the greatest of all time.

The film also stars Matt Damon as Nike executive Sonny Vaccaro, Affleck as Nike co-founder Phil Knight, and Julius Tennon as Jordan’s father, James. Other cast includes Jason Bateman, Chris Messina, Marlon Wayans, Chris Tucker, Matthew Maher and Gustaf Skarsgård.

Affleck and Damon are also producing with David Ellison, Jesse Sisgold, Jon Weinbach, Madison Ainley, Jeff Robinov, Peter Guber and Jason Michael Berman.

AIR comes to theaters April 5.
