Get ready to go to a whole new world, again.

SyFy Wire is reporting that Aladdin producer Dan Lin is ready for a sequel to the live-action adaptation of Aladdin.

“We’d love to,” he said regarding making another film. “People clearly loved the movie and watched it multiple times and we get lots of fan letters and people asking us to make Return [of] Jafar, and I can just tell you that we’re in the early stages right now, but we’re certainly talking about another movie.”

Lin continued, saying that the sequel “will not be a straight remake of any movie that’s been made before,” so fans shouldn’t expect a shot-by-shot remake of Return of Jafar. “[S]o we’re looking at ‘where’s the best way to go with these characters,'” he said.

This news probably was unimaginable to hardcore Aladdin fans who, prior to the film’s release, weren’t too happy with the idea of a remake. But now that the dust has settled, it’s clear that the film was a hit with families and children, becoming Will Smith’s highest-grossing film worldwide, knocking out 1996’s Independence Day.

It seems safe to say that fans can expect to see Aladdin 2 at some point in the near future. For now, though, you can own Aladdin digitally August 27 and on Blu-ray September 10.
