Alfre Woodard, Aldis Hodge and Danielle Brooks have been cast in an indie drama, Clemency, which is from writer-director Chinonye Chukwu.

It’ll also star Wendell Pierce and Richard Schiff.

The film “centers on a prison warden (Woodard) who confronts her own psychological demons as she develops an emotional connection to the death row inmate (Hodge) she is scheduled to execute.”

Clemency will be Chinonye’s second feature. She is known for her work on the clemency campaign for Tyra Patterson. She was accused of murder and released from prison after serving nearly 23 years.  Chukwu also created a program called Pens to Pictures at a Ohio women’s prison.
