Comedian and Insecure star Amanda Seales is debuting her first hour-long comedy special on HBO. Amanda Seales: I Be Knowin’ will be directed by Stan Lathan and film November 25 at New York’s Edison Ballroom. The special, produced by Jesse Collins Entertainment, will premiere sometime early next year.

Seales has been in comedy long before her time on Insecure. A former MTV VJ, she is currently on tour with her Smart Funny & Black live comedic competition show and has guest-starred on Black-ish. She has also created and starred in two seasons of her scripted web comedy series, Get Your Life, and hosts her podcast Small Doses. Comedy isn’t Seales’ only talent; she graduated from Columbia University with a master’s degree in African American studies.

Seales’ smarts show through in her comedy, which she views as a way to challenge life. “Being a stand-up comic is an honor I don’t take lightly because I consider humor to be a superpower that allows us to bear the weight of issues and concepts that otherwise seem so much bigger than us,” said Seales in a statement. “I Be Knowin’ is 37 years of finding the funny, culminating in an hour, and my HBO family being the place where I get to share it, makes this, my first special, even that much more special.”
