Amazon has decided not to pick up Diarra Kilpatrick’s pilot, The Climb, as a series.

The series isn’t alone, as Amazon actually decided not to pick up any of the pilots that premiered in Fall 2017 — Sea Oak and Love You More.

The pilots came out just as Amazon Studios is going through transition phase with two of its executives (who greenlit these pilots — studio head Roy Price, and the head of comedy and drama development, Joe Lewis) both leaving in wake of the Harvey Weinstein scandal.

Amazon is also seeming to move from its pilot order format to straight-to-series orders, as seen with the recent Lord of the Rings series pickup.

The Climb followed an office assistant (Kilpatrick) who seeks an extraordinary life through internet fame, with her best friend always in tow. The New Edition Story and Star director Chris Robinson directed the pilot, which shot on location in DetroitChristina Lee served as showrunner on the pilot episode. The Mark Gordon Company produced and served as the studio on the project along with Amazon Studios.
