Amber Stevens West has been set as the female lead opposite Damon Wayans Jr. in the untitled CBS comedy pilot from Tim McAuliffe and Austen Earl.

Deadline reports that this pilot is in second position for West, with the first being Fox’s Ghosted, where she is a series regular.

Ghosted has been a middle-of-the-line performer for Fox, but regardless of that, West’s casting in this big pilot (Wayans was the most in-demand comedy actor of this pilot season) must mean the show is in danger of cancellation.

Here’s the description of the CBS pilot: “The untitled comedy revolves around Peter (Wayans) and Claire (Stevens West), a thirtysomething couple who are tired of their mundane life and start to reconnect with their younger, cooler selves when an emerging pop star (Felix Mallard), who is drawn to their super-normal suburban life, moves in. West’s Claire is happily married to Peter (Wayans), the business manager of 20-year-old music superstar Cooper (Mallard). She’s a little concerned when Cooper comes to stay with them, particularly since Cooper’s exuberant young personality and lifestyle are a big contrast to their more tame and settled one.”

West starred in the critically-acclaimed NBC comedy, The Carmichael Show from 2015-2017.
