FX has announced that the network has renewed anthology series “American Horror Story” for another season, debuting in 2016; no word yet on a theme or subtitle yet, nor who will return from the current season.
“From ‘Murder House’ to ‘Hotel,’ ‘AHS’ has pioneered a new television form as well as becoming FX’s highest-rated show — while also pushing every conceivable boundary of creative excellence and audacity,” FX Networks CEO John Landgraf says in the press announcement.
In Live +3 ratings, FX’s measurement of choice, “Hotel” is averaging 6.9 million viewers (up 1 percent vs. last season’s “Freak Show”).
Of note this season, Angela Bassett returned, and was joined by newcomer Naomi Campbell.
They are joined by star Lady Gaga, as well as series regulars Sarah Paulson, Kathy Bates, Evan Peters, as well as Wes Bentley, Chloë Sevigny and Matt Bomer and Cheyenne Jackson. I’m sure some of these folks will be returning.
Feel free to speculate on what series creator Ryan Murphy will do with the show next season… I still need to catch up on this season, as I haven’t been keeping up with it.
