nullHere’s a first look clip from a documentary project whose Kickstarter campaign we featured last summer.

Titled "Framed," the project’s crowdfunding campaign was successful, raising over $33,000, blowing past its $28,000 goal.

A quick recap…

"Framed" speaks directly to criticisms we’ve expressed on this blog ad naseam, with regards to the so-called West’s magnanimous, if arrogant and condescending relationship with "Africa" (quotes intentional), thanks to a rather short-sighted and uninformed understanding of those who live on a continent that’s sometimes regarded as a single country.

It is not, in case, you were wondering.

Directed by Cassandra Herrman and Kathryn Mathers, the filmmakers emailed me with a link to an excerpt from "Framed" which is currently being featured as a New York Times Op Docs selection – the newspaper’s award-winning section for short, opinionated documentaries, covering current affairs.

In the short clip, Boniface Mwangi – the award-winning Kenyan photojournalist – challenges American student volunteers with the query: "Why do you want to help us? Help your own country."

Needless to say, after watching this clip, I’m looking forward to seeing the film in its entirety!
