And the Winner of Round 4 of the Shadow and Act Digital Filmmaker Showcase is…?


The winner of Round 4 of the Shadow and Act Digital Filmmaker Showcase is Nick Of Time directed by Eric Haywood.

The film, which stars Nicholas Strong and Dana Davis, follows Nick as he stumbles upon a unique way to avoid getting dumped by his girlfriend.

Rounding out the top 3 films, which garnered around 80% of the votes, were A Day In The Life… by MatthewSahJenifer and Zewdu by Enrico Parenti.

All of these films were competing for the first time.

We’ll soon announce the date our final qualifying round (Round 5) for this inaugural season.

These filmmakers along with the winner of Round 5 will compete in a final round for $4,000 cash.

About Eric Haywood: Born and raised in Milwaukee, Eric began his career as a music video director while still enrolled at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Filmmaking. He relocated to Atlanta where he directed and produced videos featuring such artists as Usher, Cee-Lo Green, Outkast, New Edition, Ice-T, Tupac Shakur, and legendary Parliament-Funkadelic bassist Bootsy Collins.

After moving to Los Angeles, Eric landed work as a writer on Showtime’s Soul Food: The Series and NBC’s Hawaii while independently writing and directing three short films (Nick of Time, Intersection, and Staring at the Sun), each of which has screened at a number of film festivals around the country.

Eric also wrote the Hallmark Channel original movie Relative Stranger, starring Eriq LaSalle (E.R.) and directed by Charles Burnett (Killer of Sheep). The film garnered three NAACP Image Award nominations and a Best Supporting Actress Emmy nomination for Cicely Tyson.

Most recently, Eric wrote and directed the independent feature film Four of Hearts, starring Darrin DeWitt Henson (VH1’s Single Ladies, Stomp the Yard, Soul Food), Nadine Ellis (BET’s Let’s Stay Together), Gabriel Olds (Boardwalk Empire), and Michelle Krusiec (Fringe). The project is currently in post-production.

Currently, Eric writes for ABC’s long-running medical drama Private Practice.
