André Benjamin, aka André  3000 of legendary hip-hop group Outkast, has landed a role in an upcoming science-fiction film from acclaimed French filmmaker Claire Denis in her English-language film debut.

He’s been cast in High Life, joining Robert Pattinson, Mia Goth, Juliette Binoche and more.

According to Variety, who broke the news, “The film revolves around convicts who reduce their time behind bars in exchange for embarking on a dangerous mission to a black hole.”

Principal photography will take place in Germany and Denis has enlisted astrophysicist Aurélien Barrau, as well as the European Space Agency for their scientific expertise for the film.

We previously reported that Denis was working on this film with writer Zadie Smith in her screenwriting debut.

Benjamin, who created the cartoon series Class of 3000 and has had roles such as his warmly-received turn as Jimi Hendrix in Jimi: All By My Side, was last seen in the second season of ABC’s American Crime with Regina King and Trevor Jackson.
