Angelina Jolie‘s daughter is going to college at an HBCU!

Jolie has always been an advocate for women and children, so it doesn’t shock many people to see her beaming with pride as she announced her daughter Zahara Jolie Pitt’s college plans.

The Mr. & Mrs. Smith star recently took to Instagram to share that her daughter Zahara will attend the all-women’s HBCU, Spelman College, this fall. The mother-daughter pair got a taste of the HBCU experience first-hand during a recent visit.

Jolie Pitt picks her college

The 17-year-old has chosen to further her education at Spellman College.

Jolie took to Instagram to announce the news with a picture and a caption, writing: “Zahara with her Spelman sisters! Congratulations to all new students starting this year. A very special place and an honor to have a family member as a new Spelman girl.”

Jolie hit the electric slide

The pair went to a Spelman alumni event in Los Angeles for upcoming students. The Oscar-winning actress can even be seen doing the electric slide and being cheered on and high-fived by the crowd while hugging her daughter.

Jolie Pitt will join an elite list of women who have attended Spelman.

Many notable celebrities to have attended the school and have committed to donating to inspire attendance.

Some alumnae include Pulitzer Prize poet/author Alice Walker, and actresses Keisha Knight Pulliam, Cassi Davis and Brittany Inge.
