Anthony Anderson Shares Emotional Moment With Brother As He Helps Repair His Home With The Property Brothers On 'Celebrity IOU'

In the wake of the series finale of his long-running ABC sitcom black-ish, Anthony Anderson is switching over from the comedy arena to the world of home renovation. The actor recently joined forces with Property Brothers Drew and Jonathan Scott in an episode of HGTV’s Celebrity IOU.

Anderson made an appearance on the show to renovate the Compton, California home of his younger brother Derrick, an ER trauma nurse and first responder.

During a tour of his brother’s house, Anderson made his usual quips and jokes that public has come to associate him with.

As reported by Showbiz Cheat Sheet, during a tour of his brother’s house, Anderson made his usual quips and jokes that the public has come to associate him with.

“I made jokes about the heat but this is the heating system they have,” he showed the guys, pointing to an old outdated heating system that no longer works.

“My brother Derrick, a couple of years ago we were at the World Series for the Dodgers,” he explained. “And Tommy Lasorda signed a baseball for my brother. He came home, [wife] Joy was outside on the porch. He threw the ball to her. The porch is over there. The window is over there.”

The Emmy-Award nominated actor also reflected on anecdotes related to specific sections of his brother’s house.

“My brother Derrick, a couple of years ago we were at the World Series for the Dodgers,” he explained. “And Tommy Lasorda signed a baseball for my brother. He came home, [and his wife] Joy was outside on the porch. He threw the ball to her. The porch is over there. The window is over there.”

During the repair segment of the episode, Anderson hilariously slammed his finger on a hammer. Luckily, The Property Brothers came to his aid.

“I hit my finger!” he screamed. “Is that blood? That’s blood.”

Towards the end of the repairs and the end of the episode, Anderson shared an emotional moment with his brother.

“I’m happy and impressed at the man Derrick has become,” Anthony said. “It means a lot for me to be able to do this. What better way to honor him and his family than to give him a new home that he so deserves. I’m thankful and grateful to be able to give a gift like this to Derrick, because he is truly an unsung hero. He is a hero to me and to our family.”
