Antoine Fuqua Signs Overall Deal With MTV Entertainment Studios And Paramount

Antoine Fuqua has signed an overall deal with MTV Entertainment Studios and Paramount, Shadow and Act has confirmed.

The news comes as Paramount+ recently announced that Mayor of Kingstown, EP’d by Fuqua, was renewed for a second season. The series is the second most-watched original series on the streaming platform.

Through his production company Hill District Media, Fuqua’s overall deal will focus mostly on original scripted and unscripted content for television. Hill District Media’s production partner in this deal will be 101 Studios.

“Developing a continued partnership with Paramount & 101 Studios is a huge honor and I am looking forward to working together on a new slate of projects,” said Fuqua in a statement. “They are great partners to work with on Mayor of Kingstown and share in the vision of what’s to come for Hill District Media.”

“From Training Day to Southpaw, and now Mayor of Kingstown, Antoine is one of the greats,” said President and CEO of Paramount Media Networks and MTV Entertainment Studios Chris McCarthy. “We are thrilled to expand our partnership with him and have MTV Entertainment Studios as his new TV home.”

David Glasser, 101 Studios CEO, added, “Antoine is a prolific and impactful storyteller, a fantastic collaborator and an all-around great human. We are honored to be partnering with him and Hill District Media along with our frequent cohorts at Paramount.”

Fuqua’s legendary resume includes projects such as Training Day, The Equalizer and its sequel, The Magnificent Seven, Southpaw, King Arthur, Brooklyn’s Finest, Olympus Has Fallen, Tears of the Sun and Shooter. He also serves as the executive producer of FOX’s medical drama The Resident, and his latest film, The Guilty, is now streaming on Netflix.

Fuqua’s upcoming films include Will Smith-starrer Emancipation, and other projects including Bullet Train, The Terminal List, a biopic of Mike Tyson starring Jamie Foxx, a docuseries on the Los Angeles Lakers and the series Shaka: King of Zulu Nation.
