Kicking off Women’s History Month, ARRAY today announced the launch of its third membership drive, also known as Rebel-A-Thon – a Twitter take-over that celebrates underrepresented filmmakers while raising awareness for the independent film distribution collective founded by celebrated filmmaker Ava DuVernay.

This year’s campaign will unite women filmmakers – over 25 directors across five countries – for 12 hours of interaction on the social media platform, using the #ArrayToday hashtag, in support of ARRAY’s mission to amplify the voices of women and people of color filmmakers.

The Twitter gathering will also spotlight ARRAY’s most recent acquisition, Egyptian-American filmmaker Heidi Saman’s “Namour.”

“We offer this year’s Rebel-A-Thon as an opportunity to highlight the important contributions made by women filmmakers,” said ARRAY’s Executive Director Tilane Jones. “On March 1 we will stand together for inclusiveness in the industry.”

The digital event will be hosted by ARRAY founder and Oscar-nominated director, Ava DuVernay, and includes some of film’s most prolific storytellers:
