The 2012 Atlanta Film Festival gets underway tomorrow and we've already profiled a few of the festival selections such as The Last Fall, My Last Day Without You, Lucky, I Want My Name Back, The Invader and Welcome To Pinehill. Another interesting film screening at the fest is the revealing documentary AKA Blondie, a film examining the life of middle-aged stripper, and an Atlanta icon, Anita Rae Strange.
Based on the film's synopsis, the documentary takes an "intimate view" of the life of Strange – who's also known as Blondie – and "provides a fresh, provocative look at the complex, morally ambiguous world of the 55 year old."
It also "recounts her childhood with an absent father, her brief stint as a prostitute, the loss of loved ones to AIDS and the infamous Clermont Lounge."
In addition to dancing, Strange is also a poet and an advocate for gay rights.
Directed by Jon Watts, the film debuts Sunday, March 25th. You can go HERE for festival info. Check out the trailer below.
