Before his starring role as Finn in the Star Wars franchise, John Boyega made his breakthrough as teenage gang leader Moses in Joe Cornish’s alien invasion film Attack The Block. Now, a sequel might be a possibility down the line.

In an interview on the Script Apart podcast, Cornish revealed that he’s met with Boyega to discuss ideas for an Attack The Block sequel.

“We’ve got ideas,” Cornish on the Script Apart podcast. “I met with John a couple of months ago to talk about it. We’ve always had ideas after the first one. But obviously we’ve both been busy doing different things.”

Released in 2011, Attack The Block follows members of a teenage street gang who have to defend themselves from an alien invasion in South London. The film has regained public attention as more people seek out Boyega’s work after his powerful speech at a Black Lives Matter protest in London.

Cornish hinted that an Attack The Block sequel would take into account how much things have changed since the events in the first film. “In a way, the longer you leave it, the more interesting it is,” he explains. “So that’s all I’ll say.”
