Ashley Taylor Gerren, better known as Gerren Taylor, a breakout star from Baldwin Hills, has died at the age of 30.

Taylor, who became one of the biggest personalities on the BET reality series, is reported to have died in her sleep. The exact cause of death is unknown but according to The Jasmine Brand, Taylor reportedly suffered from lupus.

Along with Baldwin Hills, Taylor also starred in beauty documentary America is Beautiful, signed with the Ford Modeling Agency and started a children’s fashion line called Miyoko’s Closet, according to meaww.com.

Baldwin Hills alum Moriah Johnson was among the friends and fans who expressed condolences to Taylor and her family. “Safe travels Gerren,” Johnson tweeted.

College Hill star Ray Cunningham also tweeted about the news, writing, “Just got the worst news. I hate it’s on the internet already. RIP to my @BET fam, my babes Gerren (Baldwin Hills).”

Baldwin HIlls co-star Etienne Maurice wrote, “Queen Ashley ‘Gerren’ Taylor, my sister, an LA legend. forever in our heart. rest in eternal peace. @Moriahj [Moriah Johnson] and I prayed for your soul and your family today thinking about all the good times we shared.” Maurice’s mother, Sheryl Lee Ralph, who also appeared on Baldwin Hills, quoted her son’s tweet and added, “Sadly, Lupus is still taking the lives of young Black women. RIP Gerren.”
