Family and friends have confirmed that Basketball Wives star Brandi Maxiell is in the hospital with “severe” complications related to COVID-19.

Maxiell’s friend and former co-star, DJ Duffey, was the first to post about her condition. She wrote on Instagram, “Verified I need prayers for my sister @brandimaxiell ???????? where ever you are right now just uplift her in prayer please.”

Her sister, Jayde Penn, also sent a statement to The Shade Room to confirm the news. “My sister has been diagnosed with a severe case of COVID-19 and was hospitalized Thursday night after having trouble breathing. We would like to ask everyone to please keep her in your prayers as she continues to fight through this. We love you all and please stay safe!”

Penn also wrote on her Instagram story, “I love you sissi! God got you and you know we got you baby. I wish I could visit you in there but in the meantime stay strong for me.”

Maxiell is considered high-risk as she battled ovarian cancer in 2007. She has been in remission since 2009.

Our thoughts are with Maxiell and her loved ones at this time as we hope her condition improves.
