Batwoman star Javicia Leslie is returning to The Flash.

According to Entertainment Weekly, the actress is slated to appear in the ninth season of the CW superhero show The Flash. However, details of Leslie’s role are being enshrouded in mystery and how long she’ll be on the show are kept up in the air.

The news comes months after Batwoman was canceled by the CW after only three seasons. Batwoman’s cancellation arrived in the wake of news that Warner Bros. Discovery and Paramount Global were exploring selling the majority of The CW to local newsgroup owner Nexstar.

Leslie was cast in the title of Batwoman in the second season after the departure of the original lead Ruby Rose. This wouldn’t mark Leslie’s first appearance on The Flash. The actress appeared as Batwoman for crossover episodes in the show’s eighth season.

“Nine seasons! Nine years of saving Central City while taking audiences on an emotional journey full of heart, humor, and spectacle,” showrunner Eric Wallace said in a previous statement about the show’s final season. “And now Barry Allen has reached the starting gate for his last race. So many amazing people have given their talents, time, and love to bring this wonderful show to life each week. So, as we get ready to honor the show’s incredible legacy with our exciting final chapter, I want to say thank you to our phenomenal cast, writers, producers, and crew over the years who helped make The Flash such an unforgettable experience for audiences around the world.”

The ninth season of The Flash is slated to air sometime in 2023.
