Idris Elba is back in the action/thriller realm as a father trying to save his family from a lion out for blood.

The film, Beast, is described as a “pulse-pounding new thriller” in which a lion has officially had it with humanity and is out to kill all humans, poachers and non-poachers alike. Elba plays a man who, after suffering the loss of his wife, returns to Africa to relive the memories of their relationship. But he and his daughters are soon faced with a lion who has been scarred by humans one too many times.

According to the description:

Elba plays Dr. Nate Daniels, a recently widowed husband who returns to South Africa, where he first met his wife, on a long-planned trip with their daughters to a game reserve managed by Martin Battles (Sharlto Copley, Russian Doll series, Maleficent), an old family friend and wildlife biologist. But what begins as a journey of healing jolts into a fearsome fight for survival when a lion, a survivor of blood-thirsty poachers who now sees all humans as the enemy, begins stalking them.

Iyana Halley and Leah Sava Jeffries play daughters Meredith and Norah, respectively.

From Universal Pictures, Beast is directed by Baltasar Kormákur and produced by Will Packer. Jamie Primak Sullivan wrote the screenplay and serves as executive producer with Bernard Bellew.
