The 2018 BET Awards was named the “top-rated and most talked-about cable awards show of the year,” garnering 4.3 million viewers across Viacom’s eight networks.

Hosted by Jamie Foxx, the 2018 BET Awards was the top cable awards show in the 18-49 demo for the fourth year in a row, as well as the top cable awards show among African-Americans in the 18-49 demo for the 17th year. Other stats include being the most social cable awards show year-to-date and the most social program of the night with 2.1 million interactions on Facebook and Twitter, besting even the worldwide phenomenon World Cup.

The awards show included buzzworthy performances such as Meek Mill’s “Stay Woke” performance dedicated to addressing mass incarceration and police brutality, Janelle Monáe performing for the first time since the release of Dirty Computer, a genre-spanning performance from Snoop Dogg and a surprise appearance by J. Cole.

The show also honored the likes of Cardi B., Kendrick Lamar, Drake, Anita Baker, BET CEO Debra Lee, Parkland hero Anthony Borges, and the 11-year-old political star from the March for Our Lives event, speaker Naomi Wadler.
