BET Networks has officially announced that Sacrifice, the BET+ film starring Paula Patton, has been ordered as a series. When the film bowed in Decembr 2019 on the BET streaming servive, it was said that there was a possibility that it could also be developed as a series. Right now, it is unknown if it will be a BET+ or BET series.
The movie, which starred Patton as a L.A. attorney, was executive produced, written, and directed by Chris Stokes. Marques Houston also served as the film’s co-executive producer. For the series, Kevin Arkadie will also be an executive producer and the showrunner and Patton will be a co-executive producer.
The 10-episode season will also see several stars from the film return, including Marques Houston, James Trevena Brown, Veronika Bozeman, Altonio Jackson, Liliana Montenegro, Michael Toland, and Nelson Bonilla. Several stars from the movie, including Erica Ash, Juan Antonio and Josué Ramon Gutierre, are not listed to return.
The official description: The series will delve deeper into Daniella’s complicated personal life. She is a recovering alcoholic who compensates for her suppressed addiction with men and the adrenaline of defending the worst in the entertainment world against an over-zealous D.A. sworn to bring them all to justice. Daniella’s unimpeachable clients need her help, wisdom and resourcefulness – as do all the corrupt ones. She is the classic conundrum of doing good for bad reasons and doing bad for good reasons. Maybe it’s luck, maybe it’s skill, maybe it’s because she’s beautiful, but Daniella gets away with it… so far.
