We are continuing to see more content as the result of Tyler Perry's mega-deal with Viacom. Thursday, BET Networks announced two new series, Bruh and Ruthless. The latter serves as a spinoff for Tyler Perry's The Oval on BET, which premiered recently alongside Sistas.
Both of the series will air on BET's streaming service, BET+. Bruh has completed production at Tyler Perry Studios while production is underway on Ruthless.
According to BET, Bruh, the half-hour comedy, "examines the world of dating, career, and friendship in a present-day society for a group of 30-something-year-old college friends." The series stars Barry Brewer, Mahdi Cocci, Phillip Mullings Jr., Monti Washington, Chandra Currelley, Candice Renee and Alyssa Goss.
Ruthless, an hour-long drama, is the story of "a young woman named Ruth (introduced on The Oval) who becomes entangled in a scandalous cult of powerful sex-crazed fanatics, who she must now play along with until she can find a way to free herself and her young daughter." The series stars Melissa L. Williams, Matt Cedeño, Lenny Thomas, Yvonne Senat Jones, Baadja-Lyne Odums, Jaime Callica, Nirine S. Brown, Blue Kimble, Stephanie Charles, Herve Clermont, Anthony Bless and Bobbi Baker James.
“I’m so grateful for the millions of fans who have been watching the new shows on BET. And this is only the beginning. I’m excited to bring these two new dynamic series to the BET+ family and continue to tell stories of high stakes drama with emerging talent,” said Perry.
Both series are written, directed and executive produced by Tyler Perry. Michelle Sneed is executive producing.
