NEW YORK, NY – June 3, 2013 – Last year the tragic death of Trayvon Martin, an unarmed black teen, forced America to discuss how fatal racial profiling can be in the 21st Century. Trayvon became a household name and the debate over the controversial “Stand Your Ground” laws has revealed how polarizing they are for so many. With the trial of George Zimmerman looming, BET News investigates the timeline of events that have occurred in this case with a deeper look at why this case has galvanized Black America, in particular. Hosted by Emmett Miller, the BET News Special: “Justice For Trayvon: Our Son is Your Son”premieres Friday, June 7 at 7:30 PM ET/PT.

The half-hour BET News special will examine and report on all of the elements that led this case to reach fever pitch and will bring viewers up to date on the latest developments through engaging interviews with the attorneys, analysts and supporters, like award winning actor Jamie Foxx. Journalists will bring color to some of the facts and evidence that continue to emerge and legal experts will describe the potential impact these findings could have on the forthcoming trial.
