'Beverly Hills Cop 4': Eddie Murphy Netflix Film Adds Taylour Paige And Joseph Gordon-Levitt To Star

Netflix’s Beverly Hills Cop film starring Eddie Murphy has added two additional key cast members.

Deadline reports that Taylour Paige and Joseph Gordon-Levitt are joining Eddie Murphy in the new sequel, now called Beverly Hills Cop: Axel Foley. The film will be directed by Mark Molloy. Aside from starring as the titular franchise character, Murphy will also produce with Bruckheimer Films’ Chad Oman and Jerry Bruckheimer.

Bruckheimer Films' Melissa Reid will co-produce with Charisse Hewitt-Webster and Ray Angelic executive producing

The film’s screenwriter is Will Beall, who wrote Aquaman, has a story by credit for Zack Snyder’s Justice League, and is set to write the script for the upcoming film The Legend of Conan.

There's currently no word on who Paige and Levitt could play.

But according to Shadow and Act’s 2016 article, a proposed TV series from Paramount was set to revolve around Aaron, Axel Foley’s son who serves as a “blue-collar police officer, trying to make a name for himself absent of his father’s prominent influence” through the number of “the criminals among the rich and famous in Beverly Hills he helps eliminate.”

The film idea also had trouble getting off the ground because, as Murphy told Rolling Stone in 2012, “none of the movie scripts were right; it was trying to force the premise.” So if Netflix’s film is getting a greenlight, perhaps that means that this iteration of the film will not be, as Murphy described, “a rehash of the old thing.”

Molloy is the final director to take the helm–back in 2016, directors Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah were attached to direct when the film was still with Paramount. In 2019, Netflix and Paramount developed a deal for Netflix to take over the rights.
