As we learned last month, Jon Favreau, who directed 2016’s live-action/CGI “The Jungle Book” movie, with voice actors that included Idris Elba, Lupita Nyong’o and Giancarlo Esposito, is currently prepping his next film, another adaptation of a beloved work of animation, “The Lion King,” which tells the story of Simba, a young lion who is to succeed his father, Mufasa, as King of the Pride Lands.

We previously learned that the voice-cast who will bring Simba and Mufasa to life are Donald Glover and James Earl Jones.

The rest of the cast is still filling out, with Variety reporting last night that Beyoncé is director Favreau’s top choice to voice Nala in the upcoming redo, although no deals have been inked yet; with Beyoncé currently pregnant with twins, she may not be able to work filming into her schedule. Although, per the Variety report, since it’s voice-acting role, the studio and director “will do whatever it takes to accommodate her schedule.”

For the uninitiated, Nala is Simba’s childhood best friend who later becomes his wife.

Should she join the voice-cast, this would Beyoncé’s first film role since 2013 when she also gave voice to an animated character (Queen Tara, the Mother Nature-like queen of the forest) in 20th Century Fox’s “Epic.”

“The Lion King” is set up at Disney studios.

There is currently no release date set for Favreau’s “The Lion King” live-action movie.
