ABC’s upcoming three-hour remake of the 1987 classic "Dirty Dancing" has added Billy Dee Williams to its cast.

The veteran actor has signed up to play the Catskill Mountain resort’s bandleader Tito – a role that was originally played by Charles Coles in the original film. The character is described as the overseer of the hotel’s musicians and entertainers.

Williams joins ABC’s remake which will follow Baby (Abigail Breslin), a young woman in the early 1960s who vacations with her affluent parents and siblings in the Catskills, and falls for Johnny (Cole Prattes), the resort’s charismatic, skilled dance instructor and leader of the working-class entertainment staff.

Other cast members include Sarah Hyland as Baby’s sister Lisa, Nicole Scherzinger as Penny, and Debra Messing as Baby’s mother.

Williams has been keeping busy – mostly providing his inimitable voice for characters in varios TV cartoon series, as well as the occasional cameo, and acting in indie films.

The remake is written by Jessica Sharzer, with Wayne Blair directing. "Hamilton" choreographer Andy Blankenbuehler will do the same here.

Executive producers are by Allison Shearmur and Eleanor Bergstein, who wrote the screenplay for the original movie.
