Known far and wide for his portrayal of Lando Calrissian in the Star Wars franchise, actor Billy Dee Williams is getting candid about his gender identity.

In an exclusive interview with Esquire, the 82-year-old actor revealed that he sees his gender identity as both masculine and feminine.

“And you see I say ‘himself’ and ‘herself,’ because I also see myself as feminine as well as masculine,” Williams said. “I’m a very soft person. I’m not afraid to show that side of myself.”

Williams, who also portrayed Harvey Dent in Tim Burton’s Batman, spoke more about the fluidity of his gender identity.

“I never tried to be anything except myself,” Williams said. “I think of myself as a relatively colorful character who doesn’t take himself or herself too seriously.”

Williams is set to reprise his role as Lando Calrissian in the Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, which is slated to be released in theaters on December 20.
