UPDATE: ABC has announced that mixed-ish has been canceled.

black-ish is coming to an end. Creator Kenya Barris announced the final renewal in an Instagram post on Friday.

“To ALL the people in the world I love, honor, respect and care for it is both exciting and bittersweet to share that black-ish been RENEWED by ABC for it’s EIGHTH… and FINAL SEASON,” he wrote on Instagram in part. “In this day and age it is rare to get to decide when your show should come to an end, and we are grateful along with ABC to be able to make this final season exactly what we’d hoped for – and to do it with the entire and AMAZINGLY STELLAR cast coming back to close this chapter out with us the right way!”

This announcement comes as the show has two spinoffs on the air. mixed-ish is currently airing on ABC and grown-ish is airing on Freeform. A third spinoff, old-ish is in development at ABC as well.

black-ish was created by Kenya Barris and is executive produced by Barris, Courtney Lilly, Laura Gutin Peterson, Anthony Anderson, Laurence Fishburne, Helen Sugland, E. Brian Dobbins and Michael Petok. The series is produced by ABC Signature, a part of Disney Television Studios.
