The untitled Black Panther sequel is getting on track. The film was originally set to go into production in March 2021, but got delayed due to a combination of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic and the untimely death of its star, Chadwick Boseman.

In an exclusive report from The Hollywood Reporter, it’s been revealed that the Ryan Coogler-helmed film will now kick off production in July 2021 in Atlanta and will last about six months.

Tenoch Huerta, who stars in Narcos: Mexico, is joining the film as one of its antagonists, according to the report.

Right now, expected to return via the report are Letitia Wright, Lupita Nyong’o, Winston Duke and Angela Bassett. Wright’s character, Shuri, is expected to take on a greater role.

Marvel did not provide comment for the THR report and has not stated how the franchise would continue without Boseman, though they have made it clear CGI will not be used to feature him in the film.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 3 and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness are in production while Thor: Love and Thunder will begin in January.

If the release dates hold, three Marvel films could bow in 2021: Black Widow, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings and Eternals (Nov. 11)
