Black Panther actress Sope Aluko has joined the cast of Sony’s Spider-Man spinoff, Venom.

She joins Tom Hardy in the titular role, alongside Riz Ahmed and Michelle Williams.

Aluko played the Shaman in Black Panther.

Venom plot details are still scarce and there is no word on who Aluko’s character will be.

The film is a part of Sony’s Marvel universe they are putting together, which is described to be “adjacent” to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It will include Venom and the Gina Prince-Bythewood-directed Silver & Black to star off with.

The film hits theaters October 5.

Aluko spoke with Shadow and Act last month, you can read that conversation here.
