March 10th 2018

It's official: Disney/Marvel Studios' Black Panther has reached the $1 billion mark at the box office worldwide on just its 26th day of release.

A few feats here: it is Walt Disney Studios’ 16th title to reach the mark, the MCU’s 5th to do so and the 33rd title overall to get $1B globally.

The Ryan Coogler-helmed film has made $531M at the U.S. box office and has a strong $49M start already in China. It will soon reach $500M+ overseas this weekend.

Black Panther, the first big-budget, major studio tentpole is the first in history of its kind to feature a primarily black cast, is now the No. 9 top film of all time domestically and will soon become the No. 2 superhero film of all time, passing The Dark Knight.

The film stars Chadwick Boseman, Michael B. Jordan, Lupita Nyong'o, Danai Gurira, Martin Freeman, Daniel Kaluuya, Letitia Wright and Winston Duke, with Angela Bassett, Forest Whitaker and Andy Serkis.

Shadow and Act will bring you full coverage of stats once the weekend box office wraps up on Sunday.
