WATCH: First Previews Released For Upcoming Bobby DeBarge Biopic

TV One has released a teaser and the first two clips from its upcoming original film The Bobby DeBarge Story. It is set to premiere on June 29 at 8 p.m.

The film stars Roshon Fegan in the lead role as Bobby DeBarge, Tyra Ferrell as Etterlene DeBarge and Adrian Marcel as James DeBarge. Other stars include Big Boi who portrays Berry Gordy, while Lloyd appears as Switch member Gregory Williams. The film is directed by Russ Parr and executive produced by Eric Tomosunas and Teri DeBarge.

The official description: The movie explores the tumultuous life of the former lead singer of the 70’s R&B/Funk Band Switch, also the eldest sibling of the world-famous pop group DeBarge. Despite his success in music, the iconic falsetto found his life in peril as he struggled with fame and fortune while coping with the memories of his dysfunctional childhood.

“The most dynamic and powerful acting role I’ve ever portrayed. It was an honor to tell this musical legend’s life story,” says Fegan.

Director Russ Parr says, “It was truly amazing watching the characters unfold in front of my eyes and the incredible acting that was bestowed upon this project. I think a lot of people are going to be surprised by the performances that they see. Although this is a tragic story, I believe it’s told with dignity and respect to the legacy of Bobby DeBarge.”
