Bradford Young Named 2015 Kodak Cinematographer-in-Residence

Bradford YoungCinematographer extraordinaire Bradford Young has been named the 2015 Kodak Cinematographer-in-Residence at the UCLA School of Theater, Film and Television.

This is the 16th year of the residency program, which is sponsored by the Eastman Kodak Company.

Young joins a distinguished group of cinematographers who have received this honor in the past, including John Bailey ("American Gigolo" and "In the Line of Fire"); Dean Cundey ("Back to the Future" and "Who Framed Roger Rabbit"); Roger Deakins ("No Country For Old Men" and "True Grit"); Guillermo Navarro ("From Dusk Till Dawn" and "Pan’s Labyrinth"); and Dante Spinotti ("Hercules" and "Tower Heist, Public Enemies"), among many others.

The Kodak Cinematographer-in-Residence program began in 2000 to enhance the learning experience of students with insight from renowned cinematographers. UCLA School of Theater, Film and Television is the only film school that offers a cinematography residency program of this kind, where students can receive direct guidance from cinematographers through screenings, workshops and one-on-one sessions over the course of 10 weeks.

The residency begins in December with hands-on student workshops, and continues for the remainder of the 2015-16 academic year.

As part of the program, Young will screen "Ain’t Them Bodies Saints," directed by David Lowery, which he shot on Kodak film, on Monday, Oct. 5, at 8 pm in UCLA School of Theater, Film and Television’s James Bridges Theater, followed by a Q&A session moderated by Lecturer Jeanne Tyson.
