You knew the sequel was in the making..

And now Sony Pictures has brought director Breck Eisner on board to the direct the sequel of the 2010 global box office hit Karate Kid, which grossed $343 million worldwide, and $56 million on opening weekend. 

Karate Kid 2 will reunite Jaden Smith in the titular role and Jackie Chan. Director Eisner recently directed the 2010 horror film The Crazies, considered an an important film for Sony, which has been focusing its efforts in developing franchises of global appeal.
