Fresh off an Emmy nomination for his role as Alfred “Paper Boi” Miles in the FX series Atlanta, Brian Tyree Henry is not taking any prisoners when it comes to transitioning into film. With upcoming pivotal roles in the Viola Davis-led heist film Widows and the Barry Jenkins-directed pic If Beale Street Could Talk, Henry has parlayed his supporting turn in Atlanta into supporting turns on film. It would only make sense that the Morehouse College alum would take on lead roles.

Deadline is reporting Henry will star to star in the indie picture The Outside Story, written and directed by Casimir Nozkowski. Set in Brooklyn, Henry plays Charles Young, a meek and mild-mannered man who works as an editor, avoiding the outside world and immersed in an environment brimming with endless deadlines.  Like all forms of storytelling, our introverted character is jolted outside his comfort zone, which, in his case, arrives in the form of being locked out of his apartment and forced to interact with the outside world (every introvert’s worst nightmare).

With additional roles in the thriller The Woman in the Window and White Boy Rick, we’re calling it now that Henry will become one of Hollywood’s latest actors to ascend into ubiquity.

The Outside Story will begin shooting in November.
