The social season is about to be upon us once again with Season 2 of Bridgerton, the series that broke Roots actor Regé-Jean Page to a new level on the global stage. Netflix has released three first-look images from the series, including new looks at Simone Ashley and Charithra Chandran, playing sisters Kate and Edwina Sharma.
The second season of Bridgerton will follow the eldest son of the Bridgerton family, Viscount Anthony Bridgerton (Jonathan Bailey), as he finds his true love during the new social season. According to the official description:
"Season 2 of Bridgerton follows Viscount Anthony Bridgerton (Jonathan Bailey) in his quest for love, and images show him in conversation with Kate Sharma (Simone Ashley). The Sharma family also includes Edwina Sharma (Charithra Chandran) and Lady Mary Sharma (Shelley Conn) who join the 'ton' in season 2, pictured with Lady Danbury (Adjoa Andoh)."
Ashley's character Kate Sharma is described as "equal parts headstrong and whip-smart."
"Her sharp wit and independent nature make her a singular force on the 1814 marriage mart, where she hopes to secure a love match for her younger sister, Edwina," according to her character description.
Edwina Sharma, on the other hand, follows in line after her sister. She is described as having "been taught by her older sister to be the perfect debutante."
"She’s kind-natured and endlessly endearing," according to the character description. "But while she may be young and naive, she also knows what she wants: a true love match."
The series will return to Netflix in 2022. Fans of Page's character, the Duke of Hastings Simon Bassett, might also be thrilled to know that Page teased a possible return to the series after leaving the show to pursue his exploding acting career. A Bridgerton spinoff focusing on the younger years of Queen Charlotte (Golda Rosheuvel) is also in the works with Shonda Rhimes writing.
