The Broadway production of a heartfelt story happening amid the tragic events of 9/11 is coming to Apple TV+.

Come From Away, directed by Christopher Ashley and written by Irene Sankoff and David Hein, stars De’Lon Grant, Petrina Bromley, Jenn Colella, Joel Hatch, Tony LePage, Caesar Samayoa, Q. Smith, Astrid Van Wieren, Emily Walton, Jim Walton, Sharon Wheatley and Paul Whitty as some of the passengers on a plane that diverts from its expected path to Newfoundland during the events of Sept. 11, 2001. According to the official description:

Come From Away is the filmed version of the award-winning Broadway musical which tells the story of 7,000 people stranded in the small town of Gander, Newfoundland after all flights into the US are grounded on September 11, 2001. As the people of Newfoundland graciously welcome the “come from aways” into their community in the aftermath, the passengers and locals alike process what’s happened while finding love, laughter and new hope in the unlikely and lasting bonds that they forge.

The live performance of the show, filmed at New York City’s Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre, featured an audience of 9/11 survivors and frontline workers. Come From Away will premiere on Apple TV+ Sept. 10, ahead of the 20th anniversary of the attacks.
