nullFrom director Kader Ayd and screenwriter Rene Topper comes what is being called a tension-packed thriller, titled Five Thirteen, which follows brothers Mike and Tre who set out in search of better lives. Further…

After being released from prison for a crime he didn’t commit, Mike’s only care in the world is to protect his young daughter from an unforgiving ex. But the justice that awaits him on the streets is far worse than anything Mike had experienced in prison. His older brother Tre begrudgingly agrees to one last “delivery,” attempting to free Mike and his new girlfriend from the grips of the criminal underworld. What transpires is a wild misadventure where multiple lives unknowingly intersect, and where decisions are made that will haunt everyone forever.
So what we have here is one of those “one last job that goes awry” feature films. Nothing wrong with that. It’s all about the story, style and execution that will help set it apart from the deluge.
The ensemble cast is led by Malik Barnhardt and Avelawance Phillips as brothers Tre and Mike. Joining them are Gary Dourdan, Bokeem Woodbine, Jimmy Jean-Louis, Tom Sizemore, Danny Trejo and others.
With a group of actors like that, anything is certainly possible, and the below trailer looks good enough that I’d definitely like to check the film out.
It was presented at the Cannes Film Festival last year, but no word on when and where you can see it unfortunately. I’ve made inquiries, so when I know more, you will too.
In the meantime, watch the trailer below (poster underneath):
